Parent app for schools
The parent opens an app instead of ringing the office.
The Clarvyn parent app shows each family what the school has recorded about their child: attendance, work, fees, health and photos. It is free to every parent at a school using Clarvyn.
Each child
Everything the school recorded, and nothing it did not.
One card per child, then a page for each with attendance, work, fees, health and photos. A tab with nothing in it says so rather than inventing a number, and a blank is never shown as a zero. The next school is on Explore, and other parents are on the forum, read on the web and posted to from the app.

Fees
Fees the parent can check line by line.
Each invoice with its balance, and every payment with its method, date and reference. Where the school takes payments in the app, the parent pays there, in part if they like; where it publishes its own accounts, they are listed to pay directly.

Inside the app
What is in the parent app.
A parent signs in with their phone number and a code. There is no password and no school code: the school's record of that number is the only link to the child. It runs on Android and is not in Google Play yet.

- Sign in by phone
- Your number and a code by text. No password and no school code; the school's record of your number is the link to your child.
- Your wards
- One card per child: school and class, days present, whether fees are settled, and today's gate record.
- Needs a look
- One card naming one child and one reason, such as a subject falling since last term.
- Attendance
- The last four school weeks, day by day: present, late or absent. A day nobody marked is left empty.
- Work
- Everything the child has been set, most recent first, and how the term is trending subject by subject.
- Fees
- Each invoice with its balance and every payment. Pay in the app where the school takes it, or the school's own accounts to pay directly. A receipt by text when it settles.
- Health
- What the school wrote down, and the instruction beside it. A medicine you register, and where it stands.
- Photos
- Every photograph the school has tagged your child in, newest first.
- Menu
- This week's meals, when the kitchen has published them.
- School
- The school's own pages, its term dates and closures, what the level is taught, and the admission checklist.
- The gate
- Today's drop-off and pick-up, and every gate event the school has recorded for the child.
- Shop
- What the school sells, ordered in the app and handed over at the office.
- Inbox
- A question to the school office, answered there.
- Explore
- Every school that chose to be listed. Reading needs no account.
- Forum
- One board under real names. Read on the web, post in the app.
- App lock
- A PIN before the app shows your children, for a shared handset.
